In 2017, Peter and Barb Horder were looking for a house they could just lock up and leave, so they went looking for a maintenance-free condominium. They targeted the deep southeast quadrant of Calgary because they liked the ease of access, amenities, and the idea of having the South Health Campus Hospital nearby.

At that time, they narrowed the field to a two-bedroom apartment by Logel Homes in Auburn Bay or a two-bedroom unit by another multi-family builder in nearby Mahogany.
The Mahogany condo won the toss, but after settling into their new home, they began considering the missed opportunity with Logel Homes.
A small pang of regret began to fester.
“Here (in Mahogany), it was too late to choose anything, like colors, and we couldn’t have improved anything,” says Peter. “With Logel Homes, we appreciated the quality of their construction and we could have personalized everything. We couldn’t stop thinking about it. »
“It’s almost unheard of, really, when you buy an apartment. There are very few condo builders that will let you customize, probably because there are so many units,” says Barb. “Logel Homes must be very organized. They give you a 46 page options booklet, and I’ve never seen this before. I think it’s fantastic.

The Horders stayed in touch with Logel Homes and were happy when the builder launched another Southeast project, Seton West in the Seton community of Brookfield Residential. Without hesitation, they purchased Logel’s award-winning Jackson floor plan, a 905-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom top-floor unit in phase one.
Once the deal was done, the fun began.
They added custom shelving in the walk-in closets and laundry room. They swapped carpet for luxury vinyl planks everywhere. They upgraded the lighting and all the appliances, installing a wall oven and microwave combo. They chose kitchen cabinets that extend to the ceiling and added a 36-inch pantry with pull-out drawers.
“We upgraded the thickness of the glass in the shower and upgraded the tiling in the marble bathroom. We also added marble shelves in the shower. Peter has always wanted a marble bathroom,” says Barb .

Changes and upgrades added an additional 10% to the total price.
The Horders expect to move into their new condo July 1st. Logel is also participating in the sale of their current condo in Mahogany.
Seton West is a six building project on Seton Circle SE which came to market in October 2020. It was Logel’s most popular development of 2021. There are 12 one and two bedroom floor plans offering 472 square feet to 1054 square feet, and six show suites to see.
Prices start in the $200,000 range.
Reilly LePage, head of sales and marketing at Logel, says the ability to personalize is the biggest driver of sales. He also credits Seton West’s continued success to builder quality, customization and location in Seton close to shops, restaurants, cinemas and services.

“When it comes to construction, Seton West’s Hardie and Lux siding, which mimics the beautiful architecture of the prairies, has resonated with our customers. A major point of pride is our build quality,” he says. “Our owners find it extremely important that we provide individual house ventilation (an HRV system), build with lightweight concrete and place acoustic mats between floors.”
A new phase will launch in May 2022 with each of the current floor plans, including the Jackson, which will start at $299,900 plus GST.
“It’s the most popular of our grand plans. Today’s Jackson is the modern take on a Logel Homes staple we’ve been building for nearly 20 years,” says LePage.
Logel recently opened six new exhibition suites in its Sage Walk development at Sage Hill in the North West and hopes to launch two new projects in 2023.
“We’ll be building homes for Calgarians for years to come,” says LePage.
